I guess with a title like "Branding Her", I knew where the story was headed but wasn't ready for the ride. To a women who has seen more than one abusive relationship in my time, the character of Alex seemed to contain many hallmarks of a classic abuser. The end of this particular segment of the story points, alarmingly in that direction. Having never participated in a b/d relationship, I don't know if these types of difficulties are typical. What I do know is that this story creeped me out and I will not be reading anymore of it. That being said, the writing was very good and the lead characters had a believable depth. Use of British idioms in a story set in Boston, sometimes took me out of the story.
It was super sexy, especially after a slump of fade to black. It is a little tell-y which made it not as always easy not to put it down, which is why it took me a month to finish it despite its length. Overall all well done. I received this book at my request and reviews this title voluntarily.
This is a great read! goes quickly, throws a few wrenches into the relationship but emphasizes that although they come from different backgrounds talking always enlightens a relationship--would love to see what happens to this couple, their son and families over time in another book--is there a movie in the future? Would be great to see their emotions and how they have developed and evolved.
This story is heavy on tell, and the the sex scenes (which are a plenty) did little for me. That's saying something coming from a self-confessed lover of erotic scenes.
Lots of graphic stuff but actually a very good love story. it addresses that murky area in our community that addresses the difference between caring very deeply about someone and actually being "in love". We blur those lines in the lesbian community way too often. It is VERY POSSIBLE to love someone very deeply without being "in love" with them. It's a fine line we tread sometimes, but a crucial one.
I am enjoying this book series tremendously, the characters have depth and this writer makes me want to get to know them in depth. I found I didn't want to put the book down when I came to the end I HAD to buy the next in the series. I just hoping Ms. Porter writes fast. If you want more than just a predicitable story line then this is the book to read.
I liked the writing and the characters. Great sex scenes.
Great Love Story! I write poetry and this series gave me ideas to follow up on between the two coming from different backgrounds and experiences.
