The Kindle edition of this work suffers two major limitations. First, there is no way of quickly going to the entry of a word in the dictionary. For example, if you want to find out what "Now" is in Arabic, the only way to get to the entry is to use Kindle's Find function, and to skip through every use of the word "now" in the text until you come to the entry. This renders the dictionary impractical in many uses. Secondly, the Arabic is not given in Arabic script, but in transliteration only. This makes it of very limited use if you are learning the Arabic alphabet as part of learning Arabic.
Useful for basic words. Has all English text (transliteration) which isn't quite what I hoped. It isn't easy to find the Eastern Arabic words, i.e. for areas around Syria, and this book provides words which seem to be accurate for that area.
I wanted to see how Arabic words were spelled so that I could pronounce the words better. The book might be fine, but it is very hard to navigate this book on the regular Kindle. Also the print is tiny and you cannot make it bigger without being even more awkward to navigate. If you want this book, spring for the paper copy.
This dictionary is useful but limited in utility if you want to learn Lebanese. It does not cover many words used in the Lebanese dialect of Arabic. It makes specific references to Syrian and Egyptian words but not Lebanese.
i felt like i too have learned a lot studying Arabic on my own too especially learning and speakingthe Spoken Arabic that is spoken in the Levant region which i'm familiarized with and understood ,specifically Palestinian Arabic which is also spoken in Israel as well. You should consider purchasing J.Elihay's Speaking Arabic which is A Self Instructing Course in Coversational Eastern Arabic if anyone out there is interested.
I am studying arabic on my own and am using this to get a quicker grasp on the arabic. I have found it to be very helpful.
